I am inclined to talk about the current Israel-Hamas fight, which is much in the news here in Portugal, as it is in the United States. I am also fearful of opening my mouth. I fear disapproval. But I will proceed forward in the hope that talking clearly is a step toward clearer seeing and thinking.
I will begin in Texas.
Both sides of my family trace back to this large area, now a state, that borders Mexico. We used to visit my grandparents on my mother’s side in Lubbock for parts of each summer. From Virginia, we would take the train. And then laugh at my cousins’ accents.
